The ‘Extended BEAR Summit 2026’ was held on July 24, 2026 at the UIU campus in collaboration with the United International University (UIU) IEEE Student Branch. Through this conference held as a pre-organization of the National Semiconductor Symposium and BEAR Summit 2026, the students of UIU got the opportunity to directly exchange views with world renowned researchers, academics, industry leaders and innovators. It discusses the latest advances in biotechnology, electronics, artificial intelligence (OO), robotics and semiconductor technology.
Organized to promote education, research cooperation and innovation, this summit plays an important platform for effective connectivity between academia and international technology experts in Bangladesh.
In the opening session of the conference, Professor Muhammad Mostafa Hossain, Professor of Purdue University and Chief Architect of Silicon River BEAR, emphasized on strengthening the semiconductor sector of Bangladesh through international cooperation, research-based innovation, university-industrial partnership and efficient human resource development.
Chief Technology Officer of Texas Instruments in the plenary session of the summit. Ahmed Bahá’í and Purdue University Online Senior Vice President Professor Dimitri Peroulis presented important discussions on semiconductor technology, artificial intelligence and the future of higher education.
Besides, Vietnam Semiconductor Professional Association (VSPA) Chairman Beech-Yen Thi Tran and Sandisk’s Distinguished Engineer Jayavel Pachamuthu presented keynote papers on semiconductor innovation, technical leadership and future memory technology.
Internationally renowned experts from Applied Materials, CREDO, Arizona State University, NXP Semiconductor and YES presented Lightning Talk on Semiconductor Manufacturing, Advanced Electronics, Commercialization of Research, Entrepreneurship Development and Emerging Technologies at the event. Besides, the participants in the question and answer session discussed academia-industry cooperation, international research partnership, skilled human resource development and Bangladesh’s potential in the global semiconductor value chain.
UIU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mo. Abul Kashem Mia, Executive Director of UIU IAR Professor Emeritus Dr. M Rizwan Khan along with university teachers, officials, students, researchers and local and foreign distinguished guests were present.
Before the summit, a research poster exhibition and networking session was held with the participation of Fellows of the Center of Research Excellence in Semiconductor Technology (CREST).
