After a long break of 23 years, the Bangladesh national cricket team will enter the field to play a two-match Test series on Australian soil next August. Cricket Australia (CA) has announced a full strength squad with their experienced and top stars for this series. Tigers’ Test captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto sees the announcement of this strong team by superpower Australia as a big ‘achievement’ for Bangladesh and a great opportunity to prove their ability.
Large teams are usually seen experimenting with youngsters or resting key cricketers while playing against relatively backward teams in terms of ranking or strength. However, Australia has included stars like Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon, Steve Smith, Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne for the Test series against Bangladesh. Nazmul Hossain Shanto said about this squad of the Australian team after the prize distribution ceremony in the final of the new bud cricket, ‘naturally, I have never seen this before. There may be many types of experiments while playing with our team. I would say, it is our achievement as a team. The team that gave, this is a great opportunity for us how well we can play against them.’
Shanto also mentioned that Cricket Australia did not take this series lightly because Bangladesh managed to build a strong position as a Test team.
Before facing a strong opponent like Australia, the Bangladesh camp has been worried about injuries. Young pacer Nahid Rana, who is in rhythm, has been injured during the Zimbabwe series. On the other hand, his participation in the series is uncertain as Liton Das, one of the team’s best batsmen, is also in Singapore for injury treatment. However, regarding the injury and team management, captain Shanto said that the physio, trainer and team management are supervising the whole matter and they will take the final decision in this regard.
