For the first time, women have the opportunity to participate in the International Quran Competition

For the first time, the women’s category has been added to the traditional and world-renowned ‘King Abdulaziz International Quran Hifz, Recitation and Tafseer Competition’ in Saudi Arabia. As a result, women contestants are also getting an opportunity to officially participate in the upcoming 46th edition.

 

King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia recently approved this historic decision. Arab News published this information about the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Sunday (May 10).

 

 

This international competition organized every year at the Holy Mosque of Makkah Al-Haram is considered as one of the most prestigious Quranic events in the Muslim world.

 

According to SPA, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Islamic Affairs Sheikh Dr. King Salman gave this approval based on a proposal of Abdul Latif bin Abdul Aziz. After the launch of the competition in 1979, this is the first time that the doors of official participation have been opened for women Hafez.

 

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs cited the initiative as ‘a major milestone’ in the competition’s history. According to them, through this, this international stage has been opened equally for both men and women of the world, the servants of the Qur’an.

 

The closing ceremony of this year’s competition will be held on August 19.
