In the recently concluded month of July, remittances in the country fell to 2.85 billion dollars. Which is 15.40 percent more than the same period of the previous year. Earlier, remittances reached three billion dollars in six consecutive months, but in the last two months, it has come below that. Central Bank Executive Director and Spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan confirmed the matter.
According to the statistics of Bangladesh Bank, remittances were above 3 billion dollars for six consecutive months from December to May of the last financial year. 3.22 billion dollars came in December, 3.17 billion in January, 3.01 billion in February, 3.75 billion in March, 3.12 billion in April and 3.43 billion dollars in May. However, in June, the last month of the financial year, it decreased to 2.81 billion dollars. And in June, it increased slightly to 285 million 90 million dollars.
In the fiscal year 2025-26, expatriates sent a total of 35.56 billion US dollars to the country. This is 17.30 percent more than the previous fiscal year’s $30.33 billion.
